Prayers on "Be Thou My Vision"
Songs mean much to me. And sometimes they speak quite loudly.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save what Thou art:
Thou my best thought, by day or by night;
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.
Lord, I thank you for coming again to me, to awaken anew my heart and to rise the flames of my love for you. Thou, and thou alone, are Lord, ever-present and never-failing. When the scales fall off my eyes and I can see Light again I realize that doubt and fear are the adversary's work. Thank you for Your relentlessness in calling this sheep back to you.
Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son,
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.
Lord, I regret the times when I leave your dwelling, to abide in the world. I regret the minutes, the hours, and the days when I buy into the great deception that I have control of my life or that my life outside of you has meaning. Help me to be your true son and to dwell within you.
Riches I need not, nor man's empty praise;
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.
Lord, help me to believe this. "I believe, Lord, help me in my unbelief." Help me to heal the open wound of self-doubt and fear. My hope is in you and you alone.
High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven's joys, O bright Heaven's Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all!
Lord, when you call us home at last, we will sing of your glory forever. Help us to to see that glory today in the hardships and stress of our life and reach Heaven's joys now and to rejoice in victory with you today.
Amen. Come, Lord Jesus, and take my heart. Make it completely yours.
